The holidays are officially in full swing! Here's a peak at our Thanksgiving.
This year, our Thanksgiving was so relaxing. We had dinner at my in-laws & in usual style, everything was laid-back & absolutely delicious. For my contribution to the meal, I made Kelsey Nixon's Carmelitas. They were so easy, but full of fall flavor.
It was my first time making caramel from scratch & let me tell you, it made me feel like a rockstar. The gooey caramel, paired with the pecans, chocolate & oats made for a decadent, warm bite. I will be making these again & again.
We took our time in the morning, me making the Carmelitas & then Andrew whipping up his Corn Pudding. He's been making this fluffy, corn souffle dish since we've been together (I think maybe even longer). The eggs are so voluminous & rich, with lots of cream, cheese & corn sprinkled throughout.
In the early afternoon, we went over to the in-law's where we munched on delicious appetizers, including this fresh, fun shrimp cocktail from Andrew's Aunt Debbie.
Pre-dinner, there was the annual potato-peeling contest, which Andrew, his sister Katie & cousin Lucas have been holding since they were young. I'm not sure who the winner was this year, but they are all impressive with a peeler.
And of course, there were arts & crafts! I brought along some paper plates, scissors & markers for making fun, adult & kid friendly animals.
Andrew's Aunt Honoria (check out her amazing work here), set up a holiday card-making station, which produced several works of art!
We had a lovely, relaxing & tasty Thanksgiving that finished up with drinks by the fire. A good day in my book! How was your turkey day?
